Gate Automation, Locks and Intercom Systems

Getting started

Automation typically include a gate opener and a remote control. Additional devices such as a Backup battery, Safety Beams a Cope Pad and an Intercom are offered to complete the usability of your gate. While some of our customers purchase gates to be operated manually , many of those come back later to have it automated.

Safety above all!

If your gate is operated by more than one user or out of sight i.e. via an intercom system, if you have young children or pets or for any other reason we highly recommend the installation of a safety beam. This device prevents the gate from moving while an object is located in its path and automatically opens it as soon as the object have moved, similar to an elevators door. A safety beam is also required if you consider your gates to automatically close after you passed in or out.

Convenience is what it's all about.

As most power outage occur during a storm, the whole idea of automating your gate is missed if you need to go out of your car in the rain and manually operate the gate. A backup battery is an affordable solution for those stormy nights. Although all gate automation units have a manual override key, a backup battery is recommended if the automated gate is the only access to your premises.

After selecting the gate design and operating type, swinging or sliding, you are able to choose the automation units that most suits your needs. Here is some information that can assist you with this decision.

Swing Gate Automation:

Swinging gates require one or two motors pending the type of gate you wish to automat. each gate is controlled by a controller unit which accommodate the remote control receiver, a power supply and a Battery if chosen. In some versions of automation this can be accommodated by one of the motor housings and reduce the number of devices you need to place next to your gate. There are three main types of motors:

 1. The linear - this type is long with a narrow profile, the electric motor drives a mechanism based on a long screw that turns inside a threaded block attached to the gate. This type in most popular and comes in a big variety to suit different sizes of gates.

 2. Articulated arm - this type is smaller and is mounted on the post, the electric motor operates a mechanism based on an articulated arm resembling a human arm that pulls and pushes the gate. This design is very powerful and most suited for large gates.

 3. Hydraulic - this type is suited for commercial uses. The advantage of the hydraulic system is its almost unlimited power output, it can move literally any thing. The down side is the constant maintenance it required and a very high price comparing the electric motors.

Sliding Gate Automation:

Sliding gates require only one motor, this can be electric or hydraulic pending the intended use of gate you wish to automat. A rack is mounted along the gate, this is driven by a pinion wheel attached to the motor. The controller unit which accommodate the remote control receiver, a power supply and a battery if chosen is included in the motor housing. Limit stops are located on each end of the rack and determine the travel of the gate from close to open and back.

Locks:

Locks can be fitted to all types of gates. We have a variety of locks starting with a simple catch or pad bolt to suit a manually operated gate and up to a number of electronic locks for the automated gates. Pedestrian gates can be fitted with a key lock and handle or a combination lock for greater security. If an electronic lock is fitted you will need a code pad to control the lock while next to the gate or you may wish to consider an intercom system so you can allow visitors to enter with out going outside to the gate.

Intercom Systems:

Intercom systems are very popular and give you the control on who enters your property. Intercoms can have Audio only or Video and Audio if the gate is out of sight. A code pad or swipe card reader can be integrated with the outside intercom unit narrowing the number of devices that hangs next to your gate.
